Volunteer Opportunities

The Art Etc... Gallery Shop, Art Rental & Sales

Art Etc... carries a marvellous array of high quality items by artists from across Canada. A volunteer will discover and appreciate a wide range of artistic skills in this busy retail environment. Duties are mainly retail selling, display and gift wrapping, and may vary in art rental and sales. A long term weekly commitment is required, and training is provided.

Docents

Docents conduct tours of the BAC from September to June. The majority of tours are with school children who are being introduced to the BAC. Duties include a 30-45 minute tour and assisting an instructor when needed with a hands-on art project. Training is ongoing and includes building knowledge in art history and techniques in guiding tours.

Gallery Attendants

The Gallery Attendant is one of the first contacts the public has while visiting the AIC Gallery. Duties include distributing information, answering questions about exhibits, recording the number of visitors, and providing gallery surrveillance. An ongoing traning is provided. A time commitment is necessary to provide continuity with the volunteer program, and the capacity to sit for the volunteer scheduled time.

Fundraising Events

Fundraising Events promote the BAC and its programs. Volunteers join a committee to assist in the planning and organization of special events in conjuction with the BAC staff. If you are interested in volunteering specifically for a fundraising event or for complete details on this year's calendar of special events, please contact the BAC ext. 326 or email specialevents@burlingtonartcentre.on.ca The volunteers are essential in making each fundraising event successful.

Assistant Instructors

Volunteers help with setups, cleanup, and they also assist the instructor during classes. This position is on a as required basis and is busiest during the summer holidays. A resume is required.
